St Columba's Chapel is a ruined medieval chapel near Southend. It lies within Keil Cemetery.

The cemetery located is a little over a mile west of the village of Southend, at the southern tip of the Kintyre peninsula.

History

Remnant of St Columba Chapel

This place was believed to have been the spot where St Columba came to Scotland and a church was dedicated to him in this spot. This parish church was known as the church of St Columba or Kilcolmkill (Cill More – Great Church) in Quinish and was one of seven medieval parish churches annexed to the Iona Abbey early in the 15th century.

Churchyard Walls

The churchyard itself is enclosed with a well-constructed stone wall, built in the year 1857.
