On St David's Day, March 1st, the Wales project are looking for people to take part in The 100 Challenge.

Each of us is going to commit to doing 100 additions to the Wales Project.

It's your choice what you do

  • is it a surname?
  • is it a place?
  • is it adding sources?
  • or adding categories?
  • is it adding FindAGrave?
  • is it fixing errors?
  • is it making connections?
  • or maybe a bit of everything?

So how do I join?

  • Just leave a message in the Comments section below to say what you would like to do.
  • If 100 of what you're suggesting is out of reach, PLEASE still do it. Just leave your objective in your Comment.
  • The Wales Project team are only a small group of just over 50, but if everyone of us did this we would add 5,000 things to Wikitree. And if more people join us, what a difference we could make!

1 day, 100 things. Join us!

I will work on the unsourced profiles in the "new" column.
Hello all, thanks for participating in our inaugural challenge. You all definitely made a difference. I'm laid up with a bad back at the moment but as soon as I'm back on my feet I'll do some analysis. We plan to do another challenge in September so look out for it on G2G, tye Wales Discord channel and the Wales Google Group.

Thank you again from all the Wales Team.

How did we do in the St Davids Day Challenge? Would be interested to know if we made much of a difference 😊

I ill began expanding biographies for the George families of Llangurig, Montgomeryshire, Wales, and their descendants. I won't be able to complete 100 actions today, but will work toward that goal in the near future. I have some information from the George Family Papers, Friend Library, Swarthmore, that I will focus on adding.

I have almost completed transcribing a 1715 letter from George David of Llangurig to Edward George of Meirion, Pennsylvania, but have a few spots that are giving me problems. I was wondering if there was a native speaker of Welsh that could give a hand. I have some clear IPhone photos of the letter.

I will do a bit of everything - wherever the trail leads. Wendy :)

I am uncommitted about committing to 100 "actions", but I have been busy working on a Welsh rabbit (a Notable - an actor) and his family (up to four members, so far). I kind of fell into Ivor when looking for someone else - hence him being a "rabbit".
A rabbit is peeping out of its hole, just daring you to follow it. Includes the words "Follows Rabbits Down Holes".

Up to six profiles, now - and ran into a Thomas. (I figure Ivor also falls under diaspora, seeing he emigrated to the US.) I'm wondering how far I will get before the commonness of last names makes it near impossible to determine family with accuracy.

I will tackle those span anchor issues in Glamorgan and Flintshire.

Great idea. I will commit to doing all I can with with the Universal mining disaster that I started and never finished, and hopefully get some of those miners connected, or at the very least, give them families :)
I will commit to an increased sourcing effort in Glamorgan, and other counties as time permits.

Stealing Jutta's idea but calling it "Restoring Radnorshire" by categorizing, sourcing, and correcting errors. Hoping someone else is up for connecting profiles in the county.

I will do what I can for the counties.

If you want to concentrate on a particular county most, if not all, of them have a list of tasks on the county page just follow the link. Wales County teams

Hilary,

Thank you very much. Please do what YOU would like to do. This is for each of us to contribute as we wish. Do not feel you have to concentrate on Counties if you would prefer to work on something more personal.

I don't have many relatives who lived in Wales and none that were born here. I will check out my One Name Studies as I know some were in Wales.
