St Paul's Church was built opposite a small trading centre of three of four buildings.

Situated on land given by William Edwards (1792 - 1865),
The building was constructed from bricks made at the Avon River.

History of: Centenary of St. Paul's..(1962,) ^[1]
The Church was built in 1860, very soon after the arrival of the Rev'd Frederick Lynch, B.A: (Dublin), to be the first Rector of Beverley. At that time St. Peter's Gilgering, was the Parish Church and Mr. Lynch took the first services there on Advent Sunday 1858 and he lived in the first parsonage at Gwambygine.
