This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about one surname and the variants of that name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. Please contact the project leader, add categories to your profiles, add your questions to the bulletin board, add details of your name research, etc.

Staley Name Study: If I can be of help please let me know. The Staley family originally settled in Frederick county, and we still have a family reunion. It may help if you live in the area that my booklet (For All They Went Through, That I Should Exist . . .) is in the Frederick Library, Frederick Historical Society, and the Maryland Archive.

Looking for staley's from russia. Immigated to america circa 1912. The name on the ships manifest was stehle/schtele. Thanks
I am already a member of Wiki Tree, and I have a number of family that have done DNA. I believe I may be the only member of the family that is a member of the Wiki Tree.
Not only do we have a paper trail, but a DNA type of tree which can be added for a verification visual of our family. The names vary from Staley, and Steeley to Stehli to some earlier variations back to the 1400's. Much of the data come from the Swiss Archive, and family in Europe. There are other Staley families that spell the name the same, but are not related as far as we know at this point.

Hi! I created the companion category for your name study (Category:Staley Name Study). Feel free to edit it. The default for the template is to add the main category, but you can add a line to have a different category. See the ONS template page for details. Give me a holler if you have any questions about categorization.
I also created a redirect, so Project:Staley (the link for the button from the Staley surname page) brings you to this page.
Cheers, Liz
