Place name and historic site.
Located several miles north of the Mohawk River, the patent was issued by the provisional government in 1723 to promote expansion of settlement in the area and to relocate Palatine families who were dissatisfied in the Schoharie settlements. The grant was made to 27 men, all but 2 of which were Palatines.
Stone Arabia, today, is a rural area north of Canajoharie, on the Mohawk River, east of Nelliston and Fort Plain, also on the river and south of Ephrata, New York.
