About the Project

The Street Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Street name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Street name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Streets), by time period (18th Century Streets), or by topic (Street DNA, Street Occupations, Street Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

Research Pages

Here are some of the current research pages included in the study. I'll be working on them, and could use your help !

Research Notes

  • YDNA!!! We need YDNA from all the branches and in England to compare with; we want to find out where the branches merge and how. To find this we need YDNA-111 or 700
  • Category page to sort the different segments of Street’s Category:Street_Name_Study
  • for Unknown Street's list them here{{One Name Study|name=Street|category=Unknown Lineage, Street Name Study}},
  • if the lineage is known to Willaim or Nicholas then list them accordingly.

I have my father-in-laws Y DNA test in front of me. He was a Street descendant. But I suppose since his Street DNA comes from a great great great grandmother his Haplotype is not of much use in this group. Would I be correct in that?

His Y haplogroup would be for his surname. If his street lineage is from his grandmother then it won't be of any use, unfortunately.

I have have dna from the Philadelphia Street family and have it listed on the John Street and Lydia Howe Street pages. But there doesn't seem to be anyone else. Because I have two Street lines, one from children Jane and her brother John, I possible have more of the Street dna and others may not connect. To bad we didn't get our parents involved.

I'd like to share the pages that I copied from the American Street Family of Philadelphia.

Awesome. Do you have a ydna kit for the streets? Would love to see the haplogroup. Also I would love to see that line. Is it Anthony, John, George, William, and Anthony?

If I am reading what I seen in the line they are descendants of william street.
