Strickland Family Cemetery Rest Haven Cemetery has few graves that are marked but most are fieldstones with no markings. Like many small family cemeteries in this area, new housing and grading is encroaching. There is no parking and access is challenging, at best.
This Cemetery contains the Strickland Family of Big Creek, Georgia. The Strickland family's ancestors were expelled from Forsyth County, Georgia in 1912. Before that, the Strickland Family/Ancestors had owned a 37 acre homestead there. In 2008, the property, which includes a family burial ground (the one listed on this page) is owned by white residents.
PBS Independent Lens aired a documentary on this Cemetery and the Descendants of the Strickland Family.
