The Suffolk Team is part of the England Project.
Goal
The goal of the Suffolk Team is to make all Suffolk profiles the best that they can be. It is our desire to leave a lasting legacy of work for future generations and current researchers that can facilitate their quest for family history, and bring them one step closer to discovering the myriad of people it has taken for them to draw breath.
If you are interested in helping with Suffolk, please feel free to look at the England Project page and sign up via the G2G post.
Topics
In order to achieve our goal, there are a number of things we are currently working on, so please remember we will largely be working in the context of profiles that are managed by other people. Always endeavour to discuss any major changes you may wish to make to a profile with the profile manager/s involved.

Ideas and Help
- Stickers
One way to help bring your profiles to life is to add "Stickers" If your profile person was born in Suffolk add the Suffolk Sticker
- {{England Sticker|Suffolk}}
- or you can amend it to add the town where the person was born
- e.g. you could add Bury St Edmonds like this {{England Sticker|Suffolk|Bury St Edmonds}}
just add the sticker below == Biography ==
- Categories
WikiTree uses Categories to help with statistics and to insure every profile is in the right place. You can help
- just add the Category above == Biography == on the profiles that you manage
This is the format and a sample of one you can use
- [[Category:Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk]]
- just amend the town to where the person was born
Sometimes you will get an error message when you save because the place name is not in the list of categories.
- Don't press the save anyway button, please remove the category that you have tried to add and then send a request for it to be added to:-
- https://www.wikitree.com/contact/category/
The page will ask you to fill in a simple form
- Enter the full category that you what to add [[Category:Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk]]
- add the WikiTree profile ID of the person you want to add it too
- Add the reason why you want it to be added, i.e. not listed
- You will get an email in a few days confirming it has been added
Suffolk Suggestions - See list below
- Suffolk Unsourced Profiles
- Suffolk Unconnected Profiles We could do with more help in this area - growing trees from these seeds is good fun in itself, as well as the list above a great place to start is Unconnected Suffolk Treeswhich gives a good ifea if the size of trees and also can be used to record trees connected.

Plus massive improvements in Suggestions and lots of sourcing, connecting and tidying.
Looking forward to another productive year.
I hope you are all well Some success this week with the Unsorced and suggestion numbers, so lets keep up the good work, let's try and do some of the unconnected as part of WikiTree's "Year of Family Connections" Thank you for all your time and help it is greatly appreciated

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Denham%2C_Risbridge%2C_Suffolk
It seems to me that these are the same place. Risbridge Hundred is archaic; and St Edmundsbury district was merged into West Suffolk district in 2019.
Thanks
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denham,_Mid_Suffolk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denham,_West_Suffolk It looks like you're right that both of these are the West Suffolk ones and the Mid Suffolk category is: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Denham%2C_Hoxne%2C_Suffolk What's the naming convention for parish pages where you have two parishes of the same name in a given county? Most of the Suffolk ones are xx, Suffolk
I have just been informed that circa 300+ people receive these messages
I will be more careful next time.
So much to learn Sorry once again if it does not concern you All the best Neill
Tried to fix a few errors today, but encountered closed profiles that I could not edit. So I have sent them a Private message (I hope they reply), This is the message I have sent, just wondered if you come across the same problem, would you be so kind as to send a similar private message (feel free to change the private message to your own style), I have also include a recruitment piece as well, worth a try. Hi .....,
I hope you are keeping save and well My names ...... I am the New WikiTree Suffolk Team Leader .... replace with your details e.g. I am a member of the Suffolk Team
I just wondered if you could help me a bit. There are a number of WikiTree errors on this profile, I just wondered if you could correct them for me. If you go to your home page and select "Suggestions" it will bring up any WikiTree errors you have on the profiles that you manage. In total we have around 6,000 errors in Suffolk, so would love to get this number reduced, so any help that you can give would be much appreciated.
We are looking for new Team members so have a look at our Team Page, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Suffolk_Team and contact me if you are interested Thanks for all your help Many Thanks .........
Have made a few changes to the layout and added some bits. I found an idea on another page which I thought was very good. Re 'blue' plaques commemorating people who have lived in or visited or had some link to a building in Suffolk We could add some, not only would they improve the profiles, then while we are on the profile we could correct the errors and add them as a Notable (if they have not already been added. Just an idea If I could have your thoughts/feedback that would be great Talk soon Neill
I hope you are all keeping safe and well
I hope you have received my email introducing myself to you as your new Team Leader, I few of you have replied already, which is wonderful, Thank You. I would love to hear from the other Team members, so that we can all get to know each other better. I have had a look at your profiles, just amazing, I am very lucky and privileged to be leading such a great team with such a wealth of experience.
I am going to do a bit of an update to our page, I have been granted trusted access to a number of other Team Pages, who's pages incorporate a number of good Ideas, so I am going to use them on our page. I am not one for re-inventing the wheel, if a good idea works.
If you have some ideas of what you would like to see on our page, then please do get involved.
I am really looking forward to talking and working with you.
So that is all for now
If you have any questions just ask :)
Thanks Neill
Regards
Dave
I hope you are well Had a bit of a dig around on WikiTree and found this https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Unresponsive_Profile_Managers
Hope this is useful
Talk soon Neill
From saturday, 1 February, we are running a month-long "Go Green" challenge.
This will be region vs. region, rather than counties, the winner will be the region with the largest drop in total numbers (sourcing + connecting + suggestions).
All the contributing county team members within the winning region will be given a sticker for their profiles :)
So if you fancy sourcing, connecting or correcting for our region comment below!
Here is a link to the regional data. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England%2C_Regional_and_County_Statistics_Page
If you have any questions just ask :)
Note that you don’t need to sign up if you are already a member of this team. There's something for everyone to do, whether it be sourcing, connecting, or working on suggestions. Also, if you are concentrating on connecting, you may be able to find your county/region of choice on our largest branches page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England%27s_Largest_Unconnected_Branches
