Summerfield is a small locality east of Raywood, Victoria. In the 1870's, several families related by marriage, the Browns, the Frazers, the Newtons and the Waughs, were among the first to settle here. They had moved from the Mount Prospect district. These included:

- William Henry Newton
The school was opened on April 22, 1876.[1] The first teacher was Benjamin Fernald.[1] Charlotte Frazer taught at the school. It was finally closed at the end of 1949.[1]
