Swedish surnames or last names can be confusing. The patronymic system was used for so long and then surnames were adopted so freely during the 19th century. If you have a Swedish surname you are lucky if the name goes further back than that.

First names in Sweden can also be confusing, partly because of the many spellings and name variants used for the same person, partly because of the common use of "double names" from circa 1800 and to the present.

- If you are going to work mainly on Swedish profiles, there is a Setting to always hide the Middle Name field when you create profiles and automatically set the "no middle name" qualifier. It's found at the very bottom of your Settings page.
