Biography
Elizabeth Paterson (also Patterson), was born on 27 December 1860 at Goodman's Property, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland. According to her birth registration she was daughter of John Paterson a fisherman and Jane Crombie who claimed to have married 26th Sept 1855; at Lamberton Toll (Berwick).[1]
The 30 October 1882 in the Primitive Methodists Church of Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland, William Nisbet age 21 Carter (Bachelor); son of Peter Nisbet, Carter and Janet Nisbet M.S. Paterson married Elizabeth Paterson age 21 Domestic Servant (Spinster) John Paterson; Fisherman, (Deceased) and Jane Paterson M.S. Crombie. They both were residing in Eyemouth and the witnesses were John Roxton and Mary Gibbes. [2]
They were often on the move, when their son Peter was born in 1887, they were at St Ella's Place, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland. In 1889 Elizabeth and family were living at Salt Greens, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland when their daughter Janet was born. Between August 1889 and March 1892 William, Elizabeth, and their children moved from Eyemouth, Scotland to Tynemouth, Northumberland, England, where their son John William Nisbet was born.Two further children were born in Tynemouth, Northumberland, England; Elizabeth in about 1895 and George in 1898. By the time of the birth of their son Henry on 16 August 1900, William, Elizabeth and family had moved south of the Tyne River and were living at South Shields, Durham, England.
Twenty first February 1929 her death was reported by her son J. W. Nisbet. Elizabeth wife of William Nisbet a Carter died of "Broncho pneumonia" at age 68 years on 20 February 1929 at 70 Edith Street, South Shields, Durham, England. [3]

The 1911 Census had 10 total children, with 2 having died before the census One child may have been born and died after their move to England.
Spouse" connection On 3 March 1905 Elizabeth had a child Isabella Spouse Nisbet, presumably named after the Isabella Spouse she was staying with in 1881. This Isabella Spouse may have been Elizabeth's aunt, Isabella Spouse, daughter of Henry Paterson and Joan Collin born about 1846 in Eyemouth. Isabella's marriage was probably this:

- i. Peter Nisbet was born on 6 September 1883 in Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland.[5] and died there on the same day.[6]
- ii. Jane Nisbet was born on 19 December 1884 at St Ellas Place, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland. Jane married Christopher Scott on 27 January 1904 at South Shields, Durham, England. Their children were: Christopher Nisbet (1906-1982); Elizabeth (1909-1987); Ernest (1911-1988); George (1924-2000). Jane died in 1966 at South Shields, Durham, England.
- iii. Peter Nisbet was born on 14 April 1887 at St Ellas Place, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland: [7] Peter was killed in France on 1 August 1916 and was buried at Vermelles British Cemetry, Vermelles, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.
- iv. Janet Paterson Nisbet (Janet Paterson (Nisbet) Swift (1889-1967)) [8]
- v. John William Nisbet was born on 6 March 1892 at 8 Brown's Buildings, Hudson St, Tynemouth, Northumberland, England.[9] He married Mary Ann Bryson Taylor on 25 November 1915 at Tynemouth, Northumberland, England. Their children were: Cecilia Gertrude (1916-1977); Peter (1917-1918); Mary Bryson (1918-1983). John died on 17 December 1932 at 2 Pearson St, South Shields, Durham, England.
- vi. Elizabeth Nisbet was born about 1895 in North Shields, Northumberland, England.
- vii. George Nisbet was born on 12 January 1898 at 15 Northumberland St, Tynemouth, Northumberland, England.[10] He married Elsie May Sutherland on 9 August 1922 at St Marys, Tyne Dock, South Shields, Durham, England. Their children were: George Lascelles (b. 1923); Gordon Alexander (b. 1927). George died on 22 October 1955 at 122 Baring St, South Shields, Durham, England.
- viii. Henry Nisbet was born on 16 August 1900 at South Shields, Durham, England[11] and was baptized on 30 September 1900 at St. Hildas, South Shields, Durham, England.[12] He married Ada Bell on 19 March 1925 at St Stephen, Low Elswick, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland, England. Their children were: Jean Bell (1925-2002); Peter (1927-2000). Henry died in 1940 at South Shields, Durham, England.
- ix. Isabella Spouse Nisbet was born on 3 March 1905 at 22 Edith St, South Shields, Durham, England and was baptized on 9 April 1905 at St Hilda's, South Shields, Durham, England. She died in 1924 at South Shields, Durham, England.

In 1881 20 year old Elizabeth was a "Servant" at John and Isabella Spouse's residence at High Street, Eyemouth, Berwick, Scotland.[16] On 3 March 1905 Elizabeth had a child Isabella Spouse Nisbet, presumably named after this Isabella Spouse, who may have been Elizabeth's aunt, daughter of Henry Paterson and Joan Collin.
