- This is a free space for the historical Burnett School. Burnett Elementary School, a later version of this school was renamed "Leola M. Havard Early Education School" in 2011.
The school was oringally named after Peter Hardeman Burnett (1807-1895) who was the first Govenor of California from 1849-1851.
HIs legacy as a racist and exclusionist led to the renaming of the school in 2011. When it was renamed, the neighborhood it was in was predominatly black.
