About the Team

This team of the Native Americans Project works to add and improve profiles of the Lakota. Team members take primary responsibility for relevant profiles or family groups and work on merging duplicates, cleaning up profiles, adding sources, removing incorrect information and offer research assistance as needed.

This team works on the profiles of individuals who identify as one of the seven bands of the Lakota. The seven bands are:

1. Sičháŋǧu (Brulé, Burned Thighs)
2. Oglála ("They Scatter Their Own")
3. Itázipčho (Sans Arc, Without Bows)
4. Húŋkpapȟa ("End Village", Camps at the End of the Camp Circle)
5. Mnikȟówožu ("Plant beside the Stream", Planters by the Water)
6. Sihásapa ("Black Feet")
7. Oóhenuŋpa (Two Kettles)

Goals

• All duplicates merged into lowest number
• PPP added only for individuals who are historically significant or are the subject of many merges. (These are the only profiles that have project templates added as per current Native American Project policies)

• biography cleaned up and written, using the WikiTree Style Guide (can work with Profile Improvement Project for help)
