The book captures the descendants of the brothers James Rayner and Elizabeth Calf and William Rayner and Mary Arnold and Mary Ann Harding. The brothers travelled to the Colony of New South Wales on the Barque Resource in 1837, and after a short time in the Mulgoa area, reconnecting with their brother Samuel Rayner, moved to the Mudgee region, working for William Cox and his sons on their property Broombee, near Mudgee, New South Wales.

Most of the records are personal recollections of close family members collected and printed in this book (1987) for the 150 year reunion in Mudgee of descendants of the two brothers, James and William Rayner.
