Tips for a Connect-a-Thon

Helpful tips for the Connect-a-Thon - please let me know what help you need, as i think that most of you will already have in mind the area of interest for the profiles that you wish to create during the thon,

As you may know i always use GEDCOM's to copy an existing family tree which was created some nearly 30 years ago in a spreadsheet.
I now only have about 1,000 of the original 17,000 profiles to copy over to wikitree, and i will space those over the thons next year.

I would suggest using the apps 'CC7 Views' and 'Wikitree+' if you are looking to add to your existing profiles, and i can provide advice on how to use those two apps to best advantage. Just let me know your area of interest, the date range and your means of providing sources, also if you have a subscription to Ancestry, Find-my-Past et cetera.

Introduction

The Splendid Spruce's team was started for the WikiGames event in August 2023, several of us decided to continue as part of the same team for the next events.

The next WikiTree team event will be the 'Connect-a-Thon' in January 2025, from the 17th - 20th January, registration for the next 'Connect-a-Thon' ends on the 15th January so don't forget to register for the Splendid Spruce team.

Geographical Coverage

The Splendid Spruces are a non-regional team, that means we are not restricting ourselves to a particular geographical location. So, no matter on which continent your interests lie you are welcome to join our team.

We have helpful hints to help you on your way if you are new to 'Connect-a-Thon'. We can guide you through the process required to find, and then update a profile with a required source, and suggest places where you can go to find a suitable source.

Previous Events

The Splendid Spruce Team entered the 'Source-a-Thon' event in 2024.
Thank you for taking part, we came 3rd in the 'normalized' score with a figure of 204, and 6th overall with a score of 2,241.

The Splendid Spruce Team entered the last 'Connect-a-Thon' event in July 2024.
Thank you for taking part, we came 7th with a total of 3,919 and 2nd with a normalized total of 356.

The Splendid Spruce Team entered the 'Connect-a-Thon' event in April 2024.
Thank you for taking part, we came 8th with a total of 2,936 and 4th with a normalized total of 294.

The Splendid Spruce Team entered the 'Connect-a-Thon' event in January 2024 and came 6th with a total of 4,209 connections and 4th with a normalized total of 301.

The Splendid Spruce Team entered the 'Source-a-Thon' event in 2023 and came 1st in the 'normalized' score with a figure of 253 which was really good considering that we only started as a team a few months before.
