Will of Betty Nash of East Meon signed 1851 and proved 1854
In the name of God Amen I Betty Nash of East Meon in the county of Southampton widow being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding but mindful of my mortality do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
First I desire to be decently interred at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named.
Secondly, I desire that all my juste debts funeral and testamentary expenses may be fully paid by my executors.
I give and bequeath unto my Nieces Daughters of my late sister Mary Yalden who shall be living at the time of my decease all my effects not consisting of money whatsoever and wheresoever that I may die possessed of
I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds to William the son of my late niece Mary Privett to be paid and payable to him by my executors within twelve months next after my decease and in case the said William Privett should not then be living I give and bequeath the said sum of fifty pounds to all and every the children of the said William Privett share and share alike
And as to the rest residue and reminder of my estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be and not hereinbefore disposed of after payment of all my debts legacies funeral expenses and the expense of proving this my will I do hereby give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and amongst all and every the children or child of my late sister Mary wife of William Yalden late of Bishopstoke in the said county of Southampton labourer deceased except the said William Privett share, and share alike payable twelve months after my decease and in case any or either of the children of my said late sister Mary by her husband William Yalden should happen to die before the legacy or share of residue shall become payable to him or them under this my Will leaving lawful issue then I will and direct that the legacy or share of residue so given to him her or them as aforesaid shall be considered as vested interests in him her or them and as such to be transmissible to his her or their issue lawfully begotten share and share alike
And lastly, I do hereby nominate constitute, and appoint John Christmas of East Meon aforesaid Yeoman and Lancelot Lipscomb of Winchester in the same county gentleman executors of my will hereby revoking all former and other Will and wills codicil and codicils by me at any time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I the said Betty Nash the testatrix have hereunto set my hand this fourteenth day of March, in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one.
