In the Name of God Amen I George Mattock of Steeple Ashton in the County of Wilts
Yeoman being of Sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding (praised be God for
the same) Do make and Ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following
(that is to say) First I Give Devise and bequeath unto Sarah Bendy daughter of the late
Thomas Bendy of Steeple Ashton Blacksmith deceased All that my Freehold Tenement or
Dwelling House with the Garden and Orchard and Appurtenances thereunto belonging which I
lately purchased of and from the Earl of Abingdon Situate lying and being in the parish of Steeple=
=Ashton aforesaid To Hold to her the said Sarah Bendy for and during the Term of her natural Life
and from and after her decease I Give Devise and bequeath the same premisses unto George Mattock
son of William Mattock of Steeple Ashton aforesaid Carpenter To Hold to him the said George
Mattock his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give and bequeath unto John Mattock son of the
said William Mattock All that my Leasehold Messuage or Tenement with the Garden and
Appurtenances thereunto belonging commonly called Crooks Situate lying and being in the
parish of Steeple Ashton aforesaid To Hold the same to the said John Mattock for and during
the Term Estate and Interest which I have to come therein Also I give and bequeath unto the
said John Mattock All that my Annuity or distributive share of an Estate in Semington lately
belonging to Robert Mattock deceased To Hold to him the said John Mattock for and during the
Estate and Interest which I have therein Also I give and bequeath unto William Dunsdon
and John Dunsdon sons of the late John Dunsdon of Steeple Ashton Labourer deceased the Sum
of Five pounds each to be paid to them respectively in Twelve Months next after my decease by my
Executrix herein after named Also I Give and bequeath unto Elizabeth wife of Stephen Neal of
London the sum of Five pounds to be paid to her in Twelve Months after my decease by my
Executrix herein after named Also I give and bequeath unto James Bendy John Bendy Elizabeth
Bendy Sarah Bendy and Mary Bendy Sons and Daughters of the late James Bendy of Steeple
=Ashton Blacksmith deceased the Sum of Five pounds each to be paid to them when they shall
Attain their respective Ages of Twenty one years by my Executrix herein after named And
as for and Concerning all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels personal
Estate and Effects of what nature or kindsoever and wheresoever being (after my Debts Legacies
and Funeral Expences are first fully satisfied and paid I Give and bequeath the same unto
the said Sarah Bendy daughter of Thomas Bendy whom I do hereby make Constitute and
Appoint Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Twenty first day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand
Seven Hundred and Ninety Eight.
