In the name of God Amen I John Balser of Sheepshead in the County of Leicester Gentleman being of sound and disposing
Mind and Memory Praised be Almighty God for the Same do make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following
(That is to say) First I Give and Devise unto my Daughter Ann Wale of Oakly wood In the parish of Sheepshead aforesaid and her Heirs
and Assignes all those my Closes or Grounds Inclosed with their and every of their appurtenances scituate lying and being in Sheepshead
in the said County of Leicester and called or known by the name of the Oakly Closes and now or late in the tenure or occupation of William
Chatterton his Asignee or Assignes and also all those severall Pieces and Parcells of land Arrable meadow pasture and ley ground with
their and every of their appurtenances scituate lying and being in Sheepshead aforesaid and containing together one yard land and a
halfe or there abouts and now in my own occupation to have and to hold the said Closes lands and premisses with the appurtenances and
every part thereof unto the said Ann Wale and her heirs and Assignes Upon trust nevertheless and to and for the uses following (that is to
say) that shee the said Ann Wale and her heirs shall as soon as conveniently may be after my Decease sell and dispose of the said closes
lands and premisses unto the best Purchaser or Purchasers that can be got for the same and with the money ariseing by such sale and with the
Rents and profits in the meantime pay off and discharge all my just debts and Legacyes and Funerall expences So farr as my personall
estate shall fall short of paying and the surpluss of the money ariseing by such sale (if any there be) after my just debts and Legacys
and funerall expences are paid I give and bequeath to my Daughters, Elizabeth Chapman Jane Chatterton and Ann Wale
equally to be divided amongst them share and share alike. Item I give and devise one moiety or full half part the whole in two
equal parts to be divided of all those severall pieces and parcells of land Arrable Meadow and pasture Ground lying and being withi[n]
the Liberties of Sheepshead afore said containing together one yard land or there abouts and is now in the Tenure or occupation of Jo[hn?]
Bentley and William Chatterton their Assignee or Assignes unto my Grandson John Chapman that the said John Chapman p[ay?]
unto his two Sisters Ann Chapman and Elizabeth Chapman Twenty pounds each at the age of twenty one out of the said prem[isses?]
if the said John Chapman Decease without Issue then I give and devise the said moiety of the said yard land and premisses unto Ann Chapm[an?]
and Elizabeth Chapman and their heirs and Assignes for ever and [as] to for and concerning the other moiety or half part of the said
yard land and premisses I give and devis unto Ann Wale Daughter of Ann Wale of oakly wood in the parish of Sheepshead
aforesaid and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten and for want of such Issue then I give the said premisses to John Wale Son of my said
Daughter Ann Wale and to his heirs and Assignes for ever Item I give and devise all that messuage Cottage or Tenement and Homestead
with the appurtenances scituate standing and being at Sheepshead aforesaid and now In the P[osse]sion of William Chattert[on] his Assignee
or Assignes unto William Chatterton and Jane his wife during the terme of their Natural lives Item I give and devise unto John Chatterton
, Son of William Chatterton the rents and profits of those two Closes lying in the liberty of Belton for three Years Item I give and Devise
the rents and profets of the aforesaid Closes for three Years more to my Grand Daughter Mary Chatterton and when the said term
of six years is expired I give the said Closes to my Daughter Jane Chatterton for her life paying to her Son Balser Chatterton
eight pounds a year after the said Balser Chatterton comes to the age of Twenty five years, and from and Imediately after the decease
of the said William Chatterton and Jane his wife I give and devise the said Messuage Cottage Tenement and Homestead with the tw[o]
[damaged] every part there of unto my Grandson Balser [Chatterton son of the said William Chatterton and Jane his wife and the?] [line damaged]
Heirs of his body lawfully Issuing and for default of Such Issue then I give the said premisses to John Chatterton Son of the said William
Chatterton and the heirs of his body Lawfully to be begotten and for want of Such Issue then I give the said last mentioned premisses
to Nicholas Chatterton and the heirs of the body of the said Nicholas lawfully to be begotten and for want of Such Issue then I
give the said premisses to William Chatterton Son of the said William Chatterton and the heirs of the body of the said William
Chatterton the Son lawfully to be begotten and for want of Such Issue then I give the said last mentioned premisses to Thomas
Chatterton Son of the said William Chatterton the Father and the heirs of the body of the said Thomas Chatterton lawfully to be
begotten and for want of Such Issue then I give the said last mentioned premisses to the right heirs of the said Jane Chatterton
for ever Item I give unto Ann Chatterton Jane Chatterton Nicholas Chatterton and Thomas Chatterton Sons and Daughters of
William Chatterton by Jane his wife all that Sum or Sumes of Money that my Son William Chatterton is Indebted to mee to be
equally devided amongest them share and share alike if the said William if the said William Chatterton is ever able to pay it. Item I
give and devise to my Grand Son William Chatterton and [to] his heirs and Assignes all that Cottage House and Homeste[ad]
scituate standing and being in Sheepshead aforesaid and now in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Merley his Assignee or
Assigns Item I give to Balsor Alt Son of Daniel Alt of China Hall In the County of Tipparary in the Kingdom of ireland all such Sum o[r]
Sums of money as he shall Owe or be Indebted to mee at the time of my Decease either upon mortgage or bond or otherwise
how soever Item I give to Balsor Alt Son of Danial Alt of China Hall aforesaid the Sum of twenty pounds to be paid
at the age of twenty four Item I give to my Grandson John Chapman the possession of the Grate Close Item I giv[e]
to my Son Inlaw John Chapman one Shilling; Daniel Alt William Chatterton and Jane Chatterton not to enter of the
lands till the Twenty fifthe of March after my Decease Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ann Wale all my Goods Cattle
Chattles and personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind or Nature soever to be by her Sold and the money arising by
Such Sale to be Imployed and go towards the payment of my Just debts Legacyes and funerall [ex]pences and after my Just debts and
Legacyes are paid and Funerall Charges defraid and my Trustee paid all reasonable charges I [do] appoint and make Ann Wale of Oakly
Wood Soul Executrix of this my last will and Testament and to give her five pounds over and above her share of the personall
estate for executing of the same and I do apoint and make [my] Grand Son John Chapman Trustee of this my last will and
Testament revoking all former wills by me made, In Witness where of the said John Balsor have to this my last will and
Testament Set my hand and Seal the Nineteenth day of September in the Thirteenth yea[r] of the Reign of our Soverign Lord George
the Second by the Grace of god of Grate Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of [th]e faith and so forth In the Year of
our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Thirty nine
