The Will of Robert Were of Burlescombe was written on 5 January 1718/9 and proved in London in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 21 October 1720, with administration granted to Thomas Were the son and sole Executor of the deceased.[1]

These are to Certifie ^unto all whome
it may concerne that I Robert Were of the Parish of Burllscombe do make
and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and Form Following
that is to say Frustrateing and revoling all former Wills Imprimis I give
and bequeath unto my Son Peter Were my Table board and Cubboard standing
in the Hall and my Table board and Binching in the little parlor and
also my sider Wring Engen and Wind Lace in the Sider house Item I give unto
my Son Robert Were one Guinea and to his Son and my Grandson Robert
Were Five pounds to be paid unto him within one year after my decease.

Item I give unto Thomas Were his Brother Five pounds to be paid also unto
him within one year after my decease Item I give unto Petter Were and
Elizabeth Were his Sister Son and daughter of Robert Were being my
Grandchildren to each of them Five pounds to be paid unto them when they
accomplish and be of the Age of one and twenty years Item I give unto James
Were my Son one Guinea and unto his Son James Were and Mary Were
his Sister to each of them twenty pounds to be paid unto them when they shall
attaine and be of the Age of one and twenty years Item I give unto Thomas
Coarding Son of Anne Coarding who was the daughter of Robert Sowthey
the sum of Six pounds to be paid to him within one year after my decease
Item I give unto Thomas Were my Grandson and Son of my Son Thomas Were
five pounds and to his Sister Elizabeth Were five pounds to be paid when
they shall Accomplish and be of the Age of one and twenty years and to
their Brothers and Sisters namely Peter Were Robert Were John Were
Joane Were and Sarah Were to each and to every and each of these latter
Five[...] pounds apeice to be paid unto them when they shall accomplish
and be of the Age of one and twenty years Item I give unto Thomas Were
my son ^and his heirs and Assignes all my lands and also all my goods whatsoever
not heretofore given or bequeath and I do make him the said Thomas Were
to be my whole and Sole Executor of this my last Will ^and Testament paying and dischargeing
all these my Legacies herein written In Witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and Seal the fifth day of the Eleven month commonly called January
Annoq[ue] Domini 1718/19 Robert Were ./. Signed Sealed and confirmed in the
