Shenton Samuel of Mountsorrel
This is the Last Will and Testament of me Samuel Shenton of
Mountsorrel in the County of Leicester Stonemason ^as follows (that is to say) First I
direct all my just debts funeral expences and the charges and expemces of proving
and establishing this my Will shall be paid by my executors hereinafter named
out of my personal estate and then I give and bequeath all my working
tools and implements used in my trade of Stonemason unto my son Edward
Shenton absolutely for his own use and benefit I give and bequeath the
sum of five pounds to each of my children hereinafter named (that is to say)
the said Edward Shenton Nathaniel Shenton Lydia the wife of Richard
Wale Sarah the wife of James Baum Mary the wifes the wife of Samuel [Repeat in Will]
Newton and William Shenton the said Legacies respectively to be paid
Immediately after my decease to buy Mourning I Give and Bequeath
the sum of five pounds to my Grand daughter Sarah baum to buy herself
mourning the same to be paid immediately after my decease All
my household goods and furniture plate linen china stock in trade
Debts ready money securities for money chattles and all other my personal
estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind
soever (not hereinbefore disposed of) except my leasehold Property next
hereafter bequeathed I give and bequeath unto the said Edward
Shenton Nathaniel Shenton Lydia the wife of the said Richard
Wale Sarah the wife of the said James Baum Mary the Wife of
the said Samuel Newton and William Shenton respectively in equal
shares and proportions to be divided between and amongst them within
twelve months next after my decease I declare it to be my will that
all such sum and sums of money as have or hath been or shall from
time to time be advanced lent or paid by me to or on account of any
of my above named children shall be deemed and taken as part of
the share or Portion intended to be given him her or them respectively by
this my Will and shall be brought into Hotchpot in order that my
said children may take equal shares and interests in my said personal
Estate All those my two Leasehold Messu^ages or tenements with the shop
and appurtenances thereto belonging and adjoining situate standing
and being on the waste of Mountsorrel aforesaid one whereof is in
the Occupation of my said daughter Sarah Baum and the other of
Thomas Willmore and all my estate term and interest therein and
thereto and all my real estate whatsoever and wheresoever whereof

I have power to to dispose I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my said
daughter Sarah Baum her heirs executors administrators and assigns absolutely
for ever I appoint the said Nathaniel Shenton and Richard Wale joynt
Executors of this my Will hereby revoking and making void all former Wills
by me made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I the said Samuel Shenton the Testator have to this my last Will and
Testament set my hand and seal the sixth day of February one thousand
eight hundred and seventeen The mark and seal of X Samuel Shenton (LS)
Signed sealed Published and declared by the said Samuel Shenton the Testator
as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his
presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto set
our names as Witnesses thereto Thos. Ingram Clerk to Mr. Dalby Leicester

of Mountsorrel Victualler.
