Whereas Thomas Hopkins of the city of Philadelphia in the province of Pennsylvania Baker son of Robert Hopkins of the said city, And Sarah Garrigues daughter of Isaac Garrigues of the same place, having declared their intentions of marriage with each other before several monthly meetings of the people called Quakers at Philad'a afores'd according to the good order used among them; and having consent of parents their said proposals of marriage was allowed by the said meeting. NOW these are to certifee whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing their said intentions this tenth day of the second month in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven; they the said Thomas Hopkins & Sarah Garrigues appaered in a publick meeting of the People at Philad'a afores'd. And Tho's Hopkins taking the s'd Sarah Garrigues did in like manner declare that she took him the s'd Thomas Hopkins to be her husband promising through the Lord's assistance tobe unto him a Loving and faithful wife until death should separate them. And moreover they the said Thomas Hopkins and Sarah Garrigues (she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband) As a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents in their honor. And we whose names are here under also subscribed being Present at the solemnization of the said marriage and subscription have as witnesses thereunto set our honor the day and year above written.
