Very little is known about Thomas Mattingly, youngest son of Cesar Mattingly.

One must consider the possibility Cesar Mattingly was the progenitor of SNP Y14083 and passed it to both of his sons.

Some Mattingly genealogists state there is no connection between the Mattingly and Matney families. However, the genetic evidence proves quiet the contrary.

A surprising development is that no Matney lineage has been found to be descendants of Thomas Mattingly. They all appear to descend from Cesar Mattingly.
