My Tillman Mystery is from my 3rd GGF Henry Tillman (Tilghman) 22 Nov 1805 Virginia- 15 Jun 1854 Madison County Ohio. My father Edward Tillman, Sr started doing family history research in the mid 1960's going to Libraries, Court Houses, Cemeteries , and visiting his elder relatives with a tape recorder getting all the information and memories he could. One thing he could never find was who the parents of his 2nd GGF Henry Tillman were. No real documents could ever be found other than his marriage in 1825 to Elizabeth Thomas . Some have a Daniel Tillman and Polly Coleman , but Ive never seen any links or proof, the last notes I could find when my Father passed in Apr 2010, was he was working on a possible lead of George Tillman and Mary Denny ( Denney) were possibly Henry's parents. I was able to find a descendant of George and Mary ( though not a dna match) they did some research and said there was not a child named Henry or another name in/around Nov 22 1805. My Son Darin who took up the research my Father started mentions the only thing we can go by on Henrys birth is on his grave marker...no real documents of birth. I figured I would put an end to this and do a Y 111 test on Family Tree DNA as the Y gene is passed from Father to Son Generation after Generation....well my results were not what I hoped....My top matches are **Hugh Hudson II ( 1 Genentic step away ), Shawn Trussell ( 1 Genetic step away ), Richard Trussell ( 2 Genetic Steps away ) Roger and Robert Trussell both 4 Genetic steps away...I put stars by Hugh Hudson II as 5 of us matches have exchanged emails and a phone call or two and Hugh Hudson II should be a Trussell as mid 1740's Elizabeth Chinn was married to a Trussell he passed and she married a Hudson shortly after had a child who as the story goes was the actually the child of here recently deceased husband. Ironically of my 191 Y dna matches 0 have a Tillman-Tilghman-Tilman surname....Trussell-Waring-Manning and others are . I had many of my "cousins" from Henry Tillman on Ancestry go to DNA matches...search...do Trussell surname and we all have many matches with Trussell in their trees...albeit most 5th-8th cousin. So my Mystery is who is/was Henry Tillman....a Trussell in reality...or from the Hugh Hudson II linewho was really a Trussell. My son Darin recently did the Big Y 700 with as expected the same and no more results than mine. Thanks for any hints-tips-ideas....I will add on Ancestry at 1 time thought we came from Tobias Tillman as myself-son-brother and 1st cousin have Thru-lines matches to several of Tobias' children and alot of Harless matches and figured it was John Tillman and Nancy Harless, but that was quickly proved in-correct.
