I wonder if a person of German decent who lived in the Cape at the time would be suitable.

I made a Wikipedia page for him a while back and it contains all the information I could find with sources, not a lot for a Wikipedia page but should be enough for a WikiTree page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Christian_Ritter

It seems that with the excellent quality of your research for the Wikipedia page, you should just go ahead and add this profile yourself. It seems he didn’t have children, so he wouldn’t come up in the usual genealogy research, but possibly there will be family links that will come up later.
