Biography

Henry was born it is said in a little village called Wales located in the borough of Rotherham South Yorkshire England. It is uncertain who his parents are. He did meet his wife in England before they emigrated to PEI. The church marriage records of that area have seemed to cease to exist for us to confirm his marriage there. Yet there is abundant proof to conclude he did so marry there to Mary Ann Seller, daughter of William Seller and Sarah Harrison. They lived on the Seller farm helping her parents get established on their homestead, until the Henry Toombs family got their own farm shortly after. Henry lived his whole life on his farm. That farm was located in the Rustico area where today several decendants continue to thrive and grow. He not only raised crops but also he raised all 12 of his children there. Henry was quite a barter expert and accomplished carpenter. In 1824 he is noted to be a carpenter on the Baptismal record of son Robert, who died in infacy. Henry went on to have great success as a carpenter, builder and farming extraodinaire , able to pass the lucrative farm and his skills, for generations to come.

According to his Will signed 18 Feb., 1850; probate granted 29 March, 1851, he mentions only two sons, Joseph and Henry.
{{Will recorded, Liber 5 Folio 139, only two sons are mentioned
