This is a transcript of the registered will of Sir John Hoby Mill, 7th Baronet of Camois Court. He wrote his will on 26 May, 1775. He added a codicil on 2 July, 1778. The Will and codicil were proved 22 July, 1780.
Spelling, punctuation and line breaks are as per the original document, with the exception that paragraph breaks have been added at change of bequest.

This is the last Will
and Testment of me Sir John Hoby Mill of Bisham
Abbey in the County of Berks Baronet Whereas M[ister] Richard
Figes by my Direction and In trust for me and my Heirs
hath contracted and agreed in his own name for the purchase
of a freehold Messuage Lands and Tentaments with their
appurt[enance]s situate lying and being at East Dean and Lockerly in
the County of Southampton late the Estate of William Bernard
Esquire Deceased and which I agreed to purchase for the
convenience and advantage of myself and Family as lying
contiguous to my Estates in the said County of Southampton
Now I do hereby give Devise and bequeath All and singular
the aforesaid Messuage Lands Tenements Heredit[amen]ts and premises
with their appurtenances so as aforesaid agreed to be purchased
in trust for me to my Brother Henry Mill of Woolbeading in
the County of Sussex Clerk To hold to him and the Heirs
Male of his Body lawfully issuing
And in default of such
Issue I give devise and bequeath the same unto my Brother
Charles Mill of Kings Somborne in the said County of Southampton
Clerk and the Heirs Male of his Body lawfully issuing and in Default
of such Issue to my own right Heirs for ever But subject
nevertheless to the payment of all Sum and Sums of Money
which now are or at any time hereafter may be charged on
the s[ai]d premises or be borrowed by me on Bond or otherwise
for the express purpose of completing the purpose of the said
premises
I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved Wife
Dame Elizabeth all that my Manor or Lordship of Bisham with
all the Rights Members and Appurt[enance]s thereunto belonging
together with all my Mess[uag]es Lands Tenements Tythes Heredit[amen]ts
premises whatsoever poss[ess]ion reversion Remainder [and] Expectancy
situate lying and being in the parishes of Bisham and Cookham
or elsewhere in the Said County of Berks To hold unto my said Dear
Wife Dame Elizabeth her Heirs [and] assigns for ever
I also give
devise and bequeath all that Messuage or Tenement Barn

Backside Garden [and] Orchard together with the several Closes
or pieces of arable Meadow and pasture Ground thereunto
belonging with the appurtenances situate lying and being at
East Dean aforesaid which I lately purchased of and from William
Brackstone unto my said Wife her Heirs and assigns for ever
I
also give devise and bequeath all those my closes of arable
Meadow or pasture ground called peverells and Wimpsons situate
lying and being near Milbrooke in the said county of Southampton
now in the tenure or occupation of M[iste]r John Bridger of
Southampton his undertenants or assigns and which I lately
purchased of and from M[iste]r Edward Ludow unto my said Dear
Wife her Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for and
during all the Estate time term or Interest which I shall have
therein at the time of my Decease
I give to such of my Servants
who shall have lived with me for five years and upwards
preceeding the time of my decease the Sum of 5 [pounds] each
I also
give and bequeath unto my said Wife her Watch Jewells and
paraphernalia and also my Goods Chattels Household Furniture
pictures plate Books Linen china Glasses Coach Chariot Horses
Carriages Stock and all the Rest and Residue of my personal
Estate of what nature or kind soever either at Bisham Abby
aforesaid or in the several Counties of Hants Sussex Essex or
elsewhere to and for her sole and separate use and benefit
provided always
and I do hereby declare that the Devises and
Bequests so as aforesaid made to my said Wife shall be in
her and full satisfaction of Dower and in full recompense
of the several Sums of Money agreed to be laid out in the
purchase of Lands pursuant to the Articles entered into for
that purpose subsequent to my Marriage with my said Wife
or somuch thereof as shall remain unapplied at the time of
my death
and I do hereby charge the real estates so as
aforesaid Devised to my said Wife with the payment of all
Mortgages Charges and Incumbrances affecting the same and
also with the payment of all other my Debts Legacies and
Funeral Charges save and except what I have already
Directed shall be charged upon my Estate and premises at
East Dean and Lockerly devised to my said Brothers
and I do
hereby constitute and appoint my said Dear Wife sole Executor
of this my Will and do revoke all fomer and other Wills
by me at any time heretofore made and this only do I
Establish in Testimony whereof I the said Sir John Hoby
Mill have to this my Will contained in two sheets of paper
to the first sheet subscribed my Name and to the last sheet
subscribed my Name and set my Seal to this twenty sixth Day
of May One thousand seven hundred and seventy five./. John

I Sir John Hoby Mill
Baronet being of sound mind and memory do make and declare
this as a codicil to and to to be taken as part of my last
Will and Testament hereunto annexed First I do hereby ratify
and confirm my said Will in every respect and I do hereby
give and devise unto my beloved Wife Lady Elizabeth Hoby
Mill all that my Freehold Manor of Mottisfont Treasury
otherwise Mottisfont Treasurer and all Messuages or Tenements
Lands and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and
being at Mottisfont in the County of Southampton which I
lately purchased of James Cooper with all Freehold Rents Chief
Rents pensions and quit rents payable thereto To hold unto
my said Wife Elizabeth Hoby Mill her Heirs and Assigns for
ever with full power to sell and dispose of the same and
every part thereof But it is my Desire and intention that
either of my Brothers Henry Mill or Charles Mill shall and
may have the first offer thereof and be at liberty to purchase
the above mentioned Manor and premises with their appurt[anence]s
of my said Wife at a price to be agree but not at a less
Sum than I gave for the same In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the second Day of July in the
Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy

the twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord One
thousand seven hundred and eighty before the Worshipful
George Harris Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right
Worhipful Peter Calvert Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or
Commissary of the prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully
constituted by the Oath of Dame Elizabeth Mill widow the Relict
of the deceased and sole Executrix named in the said Will to
whom administration was granted of all and singular the
Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first
sworn duly to administer./.
