Will and Testament
In the Name of God amen I Richard Thorp of Faxfleet in the Parish of South Cave in the County of York, Husbandman, being sick and weak of Body but of sound and perfect Mind and Memory (praised be God) and knowing the Uncertainty of this transitory Life do this twenty ninth Day of November one thousand seven hundred and eighty three make, constitute and ordain this my Last Will and Testament and as touching such temporal Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and despose of us followeth -
First I will that all my Rents Debits and funeral Expenses with all the Legacies which shall be here after named be paid and discharged by my Executor hereafter named -
Also I give and bequeath unto Richard Thorp of Spaldington my eldest Son all the Goods Chattels and personal Estate whatsoever which he now possesses which was his Grandmother Ann Thorps and also one hundred Pounds of lawful money which now stands indebted to me, to him and his Heirs forever -
Also I give and bequeath unto Anna Batty Wife of John Batty of Yokefleet the sum of thirty Pounds to be paid to her at my Death or Decease to her and her heirs forever -
Also I give and bequeath unto Mary Harrison Wife of William Harrison of Howden the sum of thirty Pounds to be paid to her at my Death or Decease to her and her heirs forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto Ann Heckles widow of William Heckles of Spaldington deceased the sum of Fifty Pounds to be paid to her at my Death or Decease to her and her Heirs forever -
Also I give and bequeath unto Margaret Brigs Wife of William Brigs of Faxfleet the sum of forty Pounds to be paid to her at my Death or Decease to her and her heirs forever -
Also I give and bequeath unto Maria Beck Wife of William Beck of Saltmarsh the Sum of Thirty (?) Pounds to be paid to her at my Death or Decease to her and her heirs forever
Lastly I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Thomas Thorp all my Goods, Chattles, and personal Estate whatsoever who I make Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament he paying the Legacies above named In Witness where of I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and Year above written
Richard Thorp signed sealed and declared this to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our Names in the Testators presence.

Thos Thorp the Son and Sole Executor named in the within Will of Richd Thorp deceased was Sworn before the Revd. Joseph Simmons Clerk Surrogate.
