Will of Richard Perry


In the name of God This is the last will and testament of
me Richard Perry Citizen and Merchanttaylor of London touching the dis-
posing of my Estate ffirst I committ my soule to God my Creator believing
the remission of my sinnes by Jesus Christ And I doe will that my debts
do be paide and my funds well dsicharged my Estates shallbe divided according
to the Custome of London into three equall partes One third parte thereof
I give to Dunes my wife as being due to her by the required custome one other
third parte of that to my two children ...... Peter and Susannah
my sonne Richard is fully consented? to my ..... I have formerly given two hundred
and fiftie pounds for his advancement And as for the other third parte which
is called the Testators third parte I give the same as follows To the parish
St Peter Poer in the Cittie of L[on]d[o]n To the poore of St Edmonds parish
in L... the west gate off L... and to the poore of Bucklands? Mon..... parish?
A ... apprentice fforty shillings to each parish to be distributed by the Church
wardens and Minister of each parish I give to sixe of the most ......
..... which stands at Sopers Lane ende ten shillings apeece To the clarks
and sexton of St Antholines parish twenty shillings apeece To the poore of St
Antholines forty shillings To Mr Offspringe three pounds And to the other five
.......... of St Antholines twenty shillings apeece The rest and residue
of my estate I give in ffive... .... to my sonne Richard Perry twentyfive
shillings And to my sonne Peter and daughter Susan ..... ....... .....
...... of the house And I doe make and ordayne my sayd wife Dunes
and my sonne Peter and my daughter Susan' executors of this my will
........ my hand the nynth day of August one thousand sixe hundred and fivty
signed sealed an published and declared by the testator to be his last will and testa
ment in the presence of Hen.y Coldron John Parrey John Elliss


There is some writing in the margin very difficult to make out
...23rd..... 1657 then illegible possibly to the effect that that was when Dunes died but that is speculation unless someone else can read it.

I shall try and fill in the blanks where possible but it isn't a clear copy unfortunately
