This Indenture made the thirtieth Day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Between Jacob Ludwig of Lower Saucon township in the County of Northampton in the state of Pennsylvania, yeoman, and Margareth his wife of the one Part and Godfrey Miller of Nocamixon township in the County of Bucks in the state of Pennsylvania, farmer, of the other Part. Whereas Michael Hiertry [Hertry? Herty?] and Christina his wife in and by a certain Indenture in writing dated the fourteenth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five did grant and convey unto the said Jacob Ludwig his heirs and assigns two Certain tracts or Pieces of Land Situate, lying and being as in Lower Saucon township aforesaid Bounded and delineated as hereinafter described [It being the same two Tracts of Land which Johan Tietrich Heller of Lower Saucon township aforesaid, Cordwainer, and Barbara his wife in the year 1774 [or 1772?] granted unto the said Michael Hertry [Herty?] in Fact of [Asi??] and by the said recited Indenture Relation being thereunto had, more at large appears. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Jacob Ludwig and Margareth his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of six hundred and thirty Pounds Lawfull money of Pennsylvania unto them in Hand well and truly paid by the said Godfrey Miller at or before the Sealing and Delivery hereof the receipt whereof they the said Jacob Ludwig and Margareth his wife do hereby acknowledge and thereof do acquit and forever Discharge the said Godfrey Miller his heirs and assigns by these Presents have granted, bargained, sold, released, confirmed, and by these Presents Do grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm unto the said Godfrey Miller his heirs and Assigns All that Messuage Tenement and two tracts or Pieces of Land as above recited as Situate, lying and being in Lower Saucon township aforesaid Bounded and described as followeth Viz: One of the Beginning at a stone in a Line of Jacob Giesys Land and thence extending partly by the same and partly by Land hereinafter described and partly by David Owens Land, north twenty three Degrees East one hundred and forty Perches to a stone thence containing by the said Owens Land south seventy Degrees East eighty seven Perches to a stone, a Corner of Jacob Eshelmans Land. Thence by the same south thirty three degrees west eighteen perches to a stone and south twenty seven degrees East fifty five Perches to a stone a corner of Ludwig Hellers Land thence by the same south thirty Degrees west seventy eight Perches to a stone and thence by the said Jacob Ludwig’s (late Weiss’s) Land north seventy five Degrees west one hundred and nineteen Perches and a half to the Place of Beginning Containing eighty eight acres and ninety Perches besides the customary allowance. And the other of them Beginning at a stone a corner of Jacob Giessy’s thence by the same north seventy Degrees west ninety nine Perches to a stone a corner of Ludwig Hellers Land thence by the same north twenty two Degrees east fourteen Perches to a corner marked Black Oak and north sixty nine Degrees, west forty five Perches to a stone in a line of Adam Kreischer’s Land, thence by the same north twenty two Degrees East thirty five Perches to a stone a corner of George Weiss’s Land Thence partly by the same and partly by the said David Owen’s Land South seventy Degrees East One hundred and forty five Perches to a stone in a line of the described tract and thence by the same south twenty three degrees west fifty Perches to the Place of Beginning Containing thirty nine acres besides the aforesaid customary allowance. Together with all and Singular the Buildings, Edifices, Outhouses, Fields, meadows, Gardens, orchards, ways, woods, water, watercourses, Improvements, Hereditaments, rights, Liberties, Members and Appurtenances, whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and revisions, remainder and remainders thereof. Together also with the grain now in the field, the apple Mill and Cyder Press, one Iron Stove now in the old room, one young mare and one cow to be chosen by the said Godfrey Miller out of two. The said Jacob Ludwig and Margareth his wife reserving for themselves all the timber which hath been already cut upon the Premises for the Building of a new house which timber the said Ludwig is to carry from the Premises before the fifteenth of August next ensuing the Date hereof unto which term the said Jacob Ludwig and Margareth his wife shall have the use of the old house for themselves and family and also the use of the third Part of the Kitchen Garden. To have and to hold the said described messuage and two tracts of Land, Hereditaments and Premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted with the appurtenances, Except as before excepted, unto the said Godfrey Miller his heirs and assigns to the only proper use & Behoof of him the said Godfrey Miller his heirs and Assigns from the first Day of April next [on seeing?] the Date hereof forever, under and Subject to the yearly quit rent now due or hereafter become due for the same to the Chief Lord or Lords of the fee thereof. And the said Jacob Ludwig for him & his heirs doth hereby covenant to & with the said Godfrey Miller his heirs and assigns that he the said Jacob Ludwig and his heirs the said Messuage and tenement and two above described tracts of Land, Hereditaments & Premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted with appurtenances unto the said Godfrey Miller, his heirs and assigns against him the Jacob Ludwig & his Heirs and against all and every Person whatsoever Lawfully claiming or to claim, by from or under him, them or any of them shall & will warrant and forever defend by these Presents. In Witness whereof the said Parties to these Presents have interchangeably set their hands and seals hereunto Dated the Day and year first above written.

Received the day of the Date of the within written Indenture of the within named Godfrey Miller the sum of six hundred and thirty Pounds Lawfull money of Pennsylvania. It being the consideration sum within mentioned. I say rec’d same Jacob Ludwig & Witness present at Signing, Northampton County ss Before me Joseph Horsfield Esq. one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County, personally appeared Henry Gupinger who on his Solemn affirmation duly administered according to Law did declare & say that he was personally present and did see Margaretha Ludwig sign, seal & deliver the within Indenture to Godfrey Miller as her act & Deed & that he signed his name as Evidence thereunto & that he did see Michael Krauss the other witness thereunto subscribe his name in the Presence of the said Margareth Ludwig – Henry Guipenger?
Affirmed before me the 15th Day of April One thousand eight hundred & two, as witnesseth my hand & seal, Joseph Horsfield {seal} Northampton County ss.
Before me Daniel Kliest Esq one of the Justices of the peace in & for said County personally appeard John Green who on his Solemn Affirmation duly administered to Law did declare & say that he was personally present & Did see Jacob Ludwig sign, seal & deliver the within Indenture to Godfrey Miller as his Act & Deed and that he signed his name as Evidence thereunto & that he did see John Hasse the other Witness thereunto Subscribe his name in the Presence of the said Jacob Ludwig – John Green
