Gilchrist to William
Know all men by these presents that I Ann Elizabeth Gilchrist of the County of Union and State of Kentucky for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have this day manumitted emancipated and set free and by these presents do manumit emancipate and set free my Young, likely and honest Yellow Coloured man William (sometimes called William Hansen) willed to me by my Father Robert Gilchrist until the said William should arrive at the age of Forty. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of December 1839.

At a County Court holden for Union County at the Courthouse in Morganfield on the 20th day of April 1840 this Deed of emancipation from Ann Elizabeth Gilchrist to her slave William (sometimes called William Hanson) was du??d produced in open court and was proven to be the act and deed of the said Ann Elizabeth Gilchrist by the oath of Sam Casey and George F. Catlett two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and was by the Court Ordered to be recorded which was done accordingly

A Deed of A. E. Gilchrist emancipating her slave William sometimes called William Hansen was this day produced in court and proven to be the act and deed of the said A. E. Gilchrist by the oaths of Sam Casey and George F. Catlett two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and was by the court ordered to be recorded and it is further ordered that the said A. E. Gilchrist is unto bond with George F. Catlett and George T. Martin his securities conditioned that he the William shall not become chargeable to this County.
