The following is a transcription of the handwritten testament dative and inventory of Lady Christian Bruce, who died 23 Feb 1775. Confirmation was granted on Christian's estate on 28 March 1776 at St Andrews Commissary Court.[1]

The Testament Dative and Inventory of the goods gear
and debts of Umqle Lady Christian Bruce daughter of the
deceased Thomas Earl of Kincardin within the parish of Markinch
and Sherriffdoms of Fife the same of her decease which came upon the
[..........]day of[..........] jajvj and seventy [..........] years
Faithfully made and given up by Lady Sarah Bruce Sister [?????]
german of the Said Defunct and executrix dative qua neares[t]
of kin Deceased to her after due [pro]clamation by publick edict
& by the Decreet of the Commissary of St Andrews dated the
Twenty Seventh day of March jajvj and Seventy Six years

The said executrix gives up for confirmation the Sum
Of Thirty pounds sterling money being part of a greater
Sum due by a Bill drawn by Alexander Drummond on
And accepted by James Earl of Perth dated the Twelfth day
Of January jajvj and Seventy one payable ten days
after date said which fell is Indorsed to the Executrix and
Defunct
