Research Notes
I want to collect information on the Chelsea neighborhood where my Irish ancestors lived, mainly Turks Row and the surrounding area: Morby's Yard, Victoria's Yard, Franklin's Row, Pimlico Road, focusing on the 1800s. The first documented event in the Murphy tree is the birth of John Joseph Murphy (1843-1922) in 1843, so his parents must have settled in London before that. I hope that gathering more information about where they lived, who their neighbors were, etc. will lead me to find the location in Ireland that they came from.
- Families who lived in or around Turks Row for several generations in the 1800s:
- Murphy: 17 Turks Row (1851), 8 Morby's Yard (1861), 18 Turks Row (1871), 13 Franklins Row (1881), 142 Pimlico Road (1891)
- Nutley: 18 Turks Row (1871), 142 Pimlico Road (1881)
- How do I incorporate information on the families that lived in Turks Row: names, relationships, census data, events?
