This reunion began in July 21 2004 as an opportunity to learn more about our Turner relatives and their history. I have hosted this reunion now for 13 years at Pittsboro, Calhoun, Mississippi, every 4th Sunday in July. Our Tree continues to grow and we first got started and connected with our many, many unknown Turner cousins, through the DNA testing of Ancestry DNA Turner Surname project. We were a perfect match with another individual on this DNA testing. I contacted the individual who was from Alabama, and after conversation and comparing notes, it was certain that my gggrand father William T. Turner was a brother to his gggrand father James "Jim" Turner. We have been on a roller coaster ever since. Some of the greatest people in this world have been re united after losing contact with family for over 150 years. Two crazy Turner cousins have breathed life into many descendants of the common ancestor of our line.
The Reunion finds new cousins each year as we meet that attend for the first time, then of course there are those who pass away each year that we remember and report on at the reunion.
I felt the call to find my ancestors at an early age, and have continued on the journey of digging up bones. What a treasure I have found!!
