Project

The goal of this project is to document the stories of the men who served on the submarine USS Stonewall Jackson (SSBN 634) from 1962 to 1995.

I am Gary Christopher. I served aboard the USS Lafayette (SSBN 616) from Apr 1979-Jun 1982.

Here are some of the tasks that I think need to be done. I'll be working on them, and could use your help.

  • Locating and linking profiles of men who served
  • Gathering stories of those who are still alive
  • Gathering the obituaries of those who have passed away

Did you or a family member serve on the USS Stonewall Jackson? Please post a message and link their profile to this page. If you have any photos or memories to convey, please do!

Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!

I served aboard SSBN 634 as part of the Gold crew for three patrols out of Holy Loch, Scotland as an EM2 (now EMN2) following Nuke School in Bainbridge MD, Prototype at D1G in West Milton, NY followed by two additional years at D1G as a staff pick up. Sub school at Groton CT and finally the Stonewall Jackson. Joined in March of 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1973 on an early out to study at the University of Minnesota and because the boat would have been on patrol when I was to be discharged. Kessler-1011.
