I can do whichever one you want to set up, Orleans would be good but it is huge. So give me one of the others...maybe Jefferson or Plaquemines

Hi PJ - Vernon and Cameron Parishes are the ones we have ready to go, so feel free to jump in on one of them. Multiple people can work on the same location - you'll be adding your WikiTree ID in Column A of the spreadsheet next to any people you want to create profiles for so that we can coordinate our efforts. If you'd rather wait until we get Jefferson or Plaquemines parishes set up, let me know and I'll add them to our requests list.

Hi Christy, I'd like to work on Lafayette Parish if it is available?

Thanks, Natalie

We'll let you know when Lafayette Parish is ready to go. These larger parishes are going to take our team a little longer to get prepared, so feel free to jump in on one of the other Louisiana spreadsheets linked in the table above if you want to get started now!

Lafayette Parish is now ready!

I'd like to work on Tensas Parish, when available. That's a tall order, so I'd probably start with the Waterproof area, which I already know a bit. I'm subscribed to Ancestry.

Thanks for letting me know. And thanks to all the spreadsheet experts for their fast work. I am pretty slow, but I trust others will join me.

There is one problem. You may have noticed that the town of Waterproof is missing. It's not your team's fault. Family search.org doesn't have Waterproof (Enumeration District 079), or, at least, they haven't posted it. I remember some years ago, I had to go to Ancestry to find my family. It starts here: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/6742/images/4241438-00252?ssrc=&backlabel=Return

No worries about speed - we expect that this project will take years to complete! I'm sure other will join in over time and every family and person that gets added is important!

Thanks for this info on Waterproof, Edgar. I've added an additional tab to the spreadsheet for the people of Waterproof with links to their records on Ancestry.

Christy, is there already a spreadsheet for Rapides Parish, Louisiana? If not, would you please create one and I will work away on that parish. Editing to add - I have an Ancestry account and would rather work on the census records there. I can use FS as a check when there are questions.

Hi Ginny-

We don't have one set up yet for Rapides, and it might take a little longer to get it created since it's a large parish. I've added it to our to-do list and we'll let you know when we get it created. And that's fine to work on Ancestry!

That is okay, Christy, just let me know. I have plenty to keep me busy while I wait!!
It's ready to go now. See the table above for the link.

I have ancestors from Rapides Parish.

The spreadsheet for Rapides Parish is ready to go now if you want to add them or work on creating profiles for other people from the parish. See the table above for the link.

Hi, Could you set up a spreadsheet for Vernon County, Louisiana?

Thanks

Terry

Done - the link is above. I had to use links to Ancestry records because the locations for Vernon Parish on FamilySearch were not matching correctly. The 1880 census is available with a free account registration on Ancestry - you do not need a paid subscription there to access it.

Thank you Christy. I have had an Ancestry account for years, so it is not a problem. New to this spread sheet 1880 Project. First profile I am doing has a problem w/ the name. I think it is Denman, but was transcribed as Bauman. No other source available. Usually w/ ancestry I change the name on the index to correct the name. Is it a problem if I do that?
Definitely looks like Denman to me too. No problems with correcting the name wherever it would be appropriate! We want always want the information to be as accurate as possible.

Thanks. Going to be a lot of Unknown profiles, as since she is a widow, her lnab is unknown.
Can I add lines to the spreadsheet? I see some children were missed.
Yep, that's fine to add people that were missed and add additional lines if you need to.

Thanks! One more question.. Does the spreadsheet automatically save? I dont see a save button and am afraid to close it out. Sorry to have so many questions.
Yep, it does automatically save.
