Hello! I volunteer as tribute to cover the Barnwell area. I have people all up and down there. I actually have everything more fleshed out at Ancestry so this would also be a good time to confirm and cleanup! Please let me know what next steps are. Thank you!

Hi Joanna, thank you for your help! This is one of our biggest counties, so it will take a little while to create it. I've added it to our list and we'll let you know when it's ready. In the meantime, if you want to get started, feel free to start with any one of the counties that has a spreadsheet linked in the table above.
Hi Joanna - the Barnwell spreadsheets are now ready - you'll see the links in the table above. A few things as you're getting started:
  1. You'll probably need to upgrade your account (for free) to the Wiki Genealogist level according to the process on this page.
  2. We recommend building out your own family tree for several generations first to help you figure out how WikiTree works - it looks like you've already started on that, which is great!
  3. You may want to try out the WikiTree Sourcer browser extension - it will make source citations much easier as you transfer over information from your Ancestry tree to WikiTree. It's not required or anything, but many WikiTreers love it!
  4. The first tab of each spreadsheet has more detailed instructions for how to participate in the 1880 census project, so be sure to read through that. There's also a helpful FAQ section on the main project page that you may want to refer to at some point.

Thanks for helping out with this project! It'll be great to have someone working on Barnwell County who's already familiar with folks there!

Thank you again for providing these resources! Please let me know if the Orangeburg lists are available. I'm of course starting with family and tracking both 1870 and 1880 for some level of completeness. I've tracked a child in 1870 who is now married in Orangeburg in 1880. Just wanted to close the loop eventually on this. Thanks again!

Hi Joanna - the spreadsheets for Orangeburg County are ready now. We split it into two spreadsheets because it's so big - there's one for surnames A-J and one for surnames K-Z.
