Stickers are used on profiles to visually highlight something important about a person. They can go anywhere between the Biography heading and the Sources heading. You can either place them all together (one on top of the other) right below the Biography heading or space them out throughout the biography to highlight certain parts of their lives.
Please note: There is a limit of 5 stickers per profile. More stickers may cause problems with loading and formatting.

General stickers
{{African-American Sticker}}
gives you:The US Black Heritage Project adds the African-American sticker to all family profiles for people with Black heritage. This not only helps us honor their heritage, it assists us with our genealogy as well as counting how many total profiles we have on WikiTree.
{{African Ancestry}}
gives you:The African Ancestry sticker is used most often on profiles of people born in Africa or children of those born in Africa. However, if you have confirmed ancestry of a certain tribe, it can be placed on each family member in that line. See Questlove's profile and his mother's father's family line for an example. See the Sticker Page for a list of tribes this sticker currently supports.
Black ProGen Stickers
Nicka Smith has graciously given us permission to use the Black ProGen icons in our stickers. WikiTree already has some of the stickers available, so you won't see those icons in this list.
You can change the text section of the sticker code to suit your needs and preferences.
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers.png |text=was an enslaved ancestor.}}
gives you:{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-3.png |text=was a free person of color.}} OR
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-3.png |text=was born free.}}
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-4.png |text=was a liberated ancestor.}}
gives you:Use this sticker when your ancestor ran away to freedom.
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-5.png |text=was a self-manumitted ancestor.}}
gives you:Use this sticker when your ancestor purchased their own freedom.
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-6.png |text=was a freedman of the Choctaw Tribe.}} (Change the Tribal name as needed. Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek or Seminole)
OR
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-6.png |text=is a descendant of a freedman of the Choctaw Tribe.}} (Change the Tribal name as needed. Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Creek or Seminole)
**Please only use this Freedmen sticker if you have a paper trail to confirm the information.**
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-7.png |text=was a racially fluid ancestor.}}
gives you:An example of "racially fluid" is someone who passed as white or Native American during their lifetime.
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-8.png |text=was of European dominant ancestry.}}
gives you:Use this sticker when you don't know the specific heritage (such as Irish, Scottish, etc) of your ancestor. Otherwise, please use the country or roots stickers instead (see Heritage Stickers below).
{{Occupation |image=US_Black_Heritage_Project_Descendant_Stickers-10.png |text=was a former slave holder.}} (or you can use the term slave owner if you prefer).
gives you:Because this image still makes many people uncomfortable, please only use it on your own ancestor profiles. If someone else is the profile manager of that ancestor, please send them a message before adding this sticker. If you would also like to add it to profiles of anyone connected with your ancestors, please contact the profile manager of that profile to get their opinion on the use of the sticker. All known slave owners will have slave owner categories by county already added to their profiles.
Military Stickers
WikiTree has military stickers available for each of the wars, but they can be tricky to fill out properly. If any of your family members served in the USA military, add this category to their profile above the Biography heading and someone will add a sticker for you.
- [[Category:US Black Heritage Project, Needs Military Sticker]]
Please add any sources or information you have regarding their military service. It helps to know which war they served in, which branch, which unit, and dates served if known.
If you are already experienced with using stickers, see Stickers for Veterans for all the available veteran stickers.
USA State Stickers
There is a sticker available for every state in the USA, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. See the USA sticker list for the code to use for each state.
Heritage Stickers
WikiTree has many stickers available for various countries of origin. Check the list of stickers to see if what you need is available. Some examples are: "Was born in Germany," "Has Scottish Ancestry."
If your country or heritage isn't available, you can use the generic heritage sticker.

All the flags of the countries of the world are available already on WikiTree. For Africa see: African Flags. For Caribbean see: Caribbean Flags
We are still in the process for creating stickers for many countries around the world.
