2024 Goals
- 400,000 profiles in total, with 100k being brand new, 200k connected.
- Continue to focus on connection, especially by adding family to already connected family.
- Start the internship program.
- Begin tracking the number of new profiles versus how many are newly stickered.
- Begin the 1880 Census Project with a starting goal of one spreadsheet for each state with at least one finishable county. Complete one county for each state by end of year. (Every state now has a spreadsheet with at least one county on it)
- Begin the Black Churches Team by second quarter.
- Begin the DNA Team by end of quarter.
- Profile Improvement: Add at least one category to every profile - location categories, maintenance categories, and Heritage Exchange categories are highest priority.
- Continue Notable Birthday and Connecting Challenges
- Continue the Quarterly newsletter
- Create and implement standards for working on project managed profiles for Heritage Exchange
- Create more help videos for the project in general and Heritage Exchange.
- Outreach and Education: Create a new self-paced education program both for the Path and for people outside the project. (in progress)
- Notables: Increase our number of completed Platinum profiles, make more use of the descendant sticker, increase our number of connected profiles.
- Heritage Exchange: Continue to create checklists by county to identify and create profiles for slave owners.
- State Teams: Continue to work through the counties systematically. More state teams will be created only when we have members willing to take on team leadership. The goal is to eventually have a team for every state.
- Cemeteries: Keep doing what you're doing. It's obviously working!
2023 Goals
- Reach a total of 250,000 project profiles by Dec 31st Met
- Start a quarterly newsletter--Met
- Continue to increase leadership numbers while increasing representation of Black leadership
- Create help videos for the project in general and Heritage Exchange to start with. These can be used for the PATH.
- Notables: Create a sticker of template for Platinum profiles--Met
- Notables: Finish reviews for all current potential Platinum Profiles and move them to complete
- Heritage Exchange: Add categories for all US President slave owners
- Heritage Exchange: Work on Congressman who owned slaves
- Heritage Exchange Document Team: Complete 2021 document requests
- Heritage Exchange Slavery Projects: Emigrants to Liberia - complete the ship rolls and create profiles
- Profile Improvement: Provide more educational opportunities Met
- Connectors: Continue monthly unconnected Birthday Notable G2G posts
- Military and War: Create a USCT page that can be used as a model for future USCT pages
2022 Goals
- Reach a total of 150,000 project profiles by Dec 31st--Met
- Increase our enslaved ancestor database to 25,000--Met
- Bring in more Team Leaders while working to increase the Black leadership--We added 5 new team leaders. We are still working to increase representation.
- Move toward a state team structure--In progress
- Decide on a final format for enslaved ancestor profiles--Discussed, but tabled until 2023 when we have more profiles and more knowledge and feedback.
- Have regular posts more than once a month which allow non USBH members to participate in short projects to help us meet our goals--We began twice a month weekend sprints in September
- Improve the quality of trees for Black WikiTree members by helping them get them sourced, formatted, and connected--We made amazing progress on cleaning up some very old profiles and helping new members get started. Still in progress and this will benefit from the in progress help videos
- Regularly feature both notable and non notable profiles monthly--Met We posted many notable features in g2g this year and on Facebook
- We will post weekly both on g2g and Facebook--Met Azure has been posting and featuring both our notables and every day family profiles
- We will create more notable groupings to make featuring easier--Met We added many new categories including USBH specific ones to group and feature the notables.
- Add more notables--We added 1262
- Start a quarterly newsletter--Not yet done
- Improving existing Notable profiles that are already connected so that they can be moved to our platinum category--We now have 171 Platinum profiles
- Complete categorization of existing Plantations--Met
