I'm not sure how you want a slave owner documented, so I have done nothing except update the biography. John Carter owned a black slave named Bess who had a daughter named Kate.<ref>Massachusetts: Vital Records, 1620-1850 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org, New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2001-2016). Woburn - V1, p. 43.[1] </ref> bottom of the page.
