This spreadsheet contains additional stats related to the total number of profiles for the US Black Heritage Project and connection rates. Included are:

  • Additional detail about profiles by profile creation year.
  • Profile counts and connection rates for notables and several Heritage Exchange categories (slaves, Free People of Color, and status unknown)
  • Profile count and connection rate by US state, which includes profiles with the state in the birth/marriage/death fields as well as profiles in any subcategories of the state category. This means profiles may be counted for more than one state if they lived in multiple states throughout their lives.
  • Total profiles by birth location, including locations outside of the US. This should only count each profile once.

Cemetery Highlights

The US Black Heritage Cemetery Team has been productive during the 1st quarter of 2024.

  1. Added 102 new counties for a total of 863(27.46% of total US counties) ,
  2. Added 385 cemeteries were added for a total of 2,672.
  3. Added 6,039 profiles for a total of 33,835.
  4. 178 cemeteries are 100% complete. Up 10 from last month.

South Carolina and Mississippi have identified at least one African-American cemetery in all of their counties for %100 county identification.

Project Focus Profiles

With a goal toward connecting all USBH profiles, we have chosen three focus profiles. We will grow the cc7 for these three connected notables as large as we possibly can to enfold more families into their web of connection.

We have a number of young living notables where we don't have enough publicly available information to begin adding family profiles according to WikiTree's privacy guidelines and a number of very basic profiles that have been created to get them into the workflow for our notables team, but we haven't started adding family yet.

If you use the category navigation tool, it tells you how many profiles are in a category. Currently, there are 309 profiles categorized under USCT.

That is a good idea and I can add this to the statistics -- but I am not positive what search you used. I did a search using the template + sticker but I have different results. I am not positive what the category is to search on

If you go to this category: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:United_States_Colored_Troops%2C_United_States_Civil_War then click on the "navigate" link on the top right of the screen. Currently, on the first line under profiles it says 13+297 (13 are how many are in this top level category and 297 in all the subcategories combined)
