Dear members of the 1701-1776 managed profiles team, a couple of things:

1. You may notice that Liz is acting as interim Project Coordinator and Team Leader for both managed profiles teams; we are seeking a replacement in each role. Find out more about roles here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:US_Southern_Colonies_Project_Roles and contact Liz if you're interested.

2. Whether or not you are interested in Project Coordinator or Team Leader, we are also seeking someone comfortable navigating Google Sheets-- where we track action needed related to requests for project management of profiles that fall within the scope of the project. If you love spreadsheets generally or Google sheets specifically (or are willing to learn), contact ME and I'll walk you through what we do there.

Thanks so much for supporting the work of the project.

I love the workflow section. Since it applies to both eras (pre and post 1700), should we move it to the Managed Profiles Teams page?

Suddenly some of the profiles of Jamestown Colony are PPP and Project Managed that were not previously. I have been Project Coordinator of Jamestown Colony. The high number of PPP has increased on its profiles. I looked at this page in thoughts I would have to join. However you do even have Jamestown Colony listed. Since I am PC for Jamestown Colony, seems I need to be on this team.

I do need to discuss the high number of PPP and Project Managed that started recently for Jamestown Colony. (the Jamestown activity occurred from 1607 to the Last Muster, 1624/1625. The people were born in the latter part of 1500's in England

Mary who added the project protection and when ? You are certainly welcome to join one or both Project managed teams but you might want to contact the person that addded the PPP if that is your issue

Mary - check your dates. You mean 1607-1624/25, which means you should be checking the Pre-1700 Team.

Do we have a list of the people who should be in the Jamestown Colony Project, whether PPP or not & whether project-managed or not? (I focus on Jamestowne Society Qualifying Ancestors, which is not a comprehensive list and also spills past the timeframe).

If we don't have such a list, I think we should, either on a space page (I can do a table of them for us) or as a Google Sheet (which I cannot do... I'm lucky if I can view a Google Sheet).

Cheers, Liz

edit - fixed the link to the Pre-1700 Team

Liz, Working on the list, was first just listing the managed..

But now am taking the PPP off. Maybe I should take the PPP off. (to me that is why they are managed)

I am using just a notepad with the thoughts of just emailing it..

Maybe I will make another space page for Jamestown?? thoughts?

Was there was something about permission to create a ?space page?

yup yup yup... Could you e-mail me the list you're working off of? (or if it's easier to wait until there's a page & then pasting a copy into the page, that's fine too)

I'm thinking maybe a page along the lines of the ones RJ set up for Jamestowne Socity Qualifying Ancestors & Magna Carta Gateways (but not so complex). See

I'll run it by the leaders & you before proceeding.

You may not like it, but.....

started a clean one, taking it from Jamestown Colony, Virginia,

(I can always merge it away if it doesn't work

Still working

ps - some need to be both managed & PPP. PPP preserves LNAB & also affords some protection from unauthorized changes to family relationships (changing parents, for example). I think it also prevents changes via gedcom uploads (I'd need to check, I can't recall if that's PPP, pre-1700 or both).

Mary,

Chances are these recent changes were a result of me switching existing PPP from the Virginia *project* (which should be covering post 1776 profiles but was co managing during US So. Colonies' hiatus) to US Southern Colonies project. Some of these profiles already had a Jamestown sticker. I don't believe I added the sticker to any profiles.

Mary, are you comfortable using google spreadsheets (very similar to Excel)? We are using such a doc to track new requests for profile mgt/protection as well as for reviewing/tracking profiles that have been protected in the past (including way back before current ppp criteria were established). We have a way to distinguish Jamestown from Virginia but that's not complete yet. Ie most are still just Virginia. I could use a volunteer comfortable with spreadsheets and knowledgeable about the Jamestown scope years to help convert the appropriate Virginia entries to Jamestown. Then we can easily generate a Jamestown list. Aleš may also have a way to generate a list from the wikitree side of things. Not sure. Does Jamestown have a project account?

I do think it would be great to gave a Jamestown team member on the pre-1700 managed profiles team.

Managed Profiles Team 1701-1776, I've just learned that Aleš is going to run an automated check on profiles that have PPP but are missing a project account, and remove the PPP if there is no project account. I know that there are still a large number of those within US Southern Colonies' domain, so it's now become a priority to work our way through the list and correct them. I want US to decide which should be removed and which shouldn't, not a bot. You can find the list here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:DBE_Project_Status#WikiTree-24_US_Southern_Colonies_Project . Pay particular attention to 1600-1699 rows #4 (175 profiles) and #8 (693 profiles) because those are the ones he's going to automate first. That's a total of 868 profiles that need checking. Whoah. There are 8 of you on the pre-1700 team (and some of us overlap with the 1700-1776 team...). That's 108 profiles each to check.

I'll leave it to your team to decide if/how you want to do this. Some of you are also on my pre-1700 managed profiles team where I'm suggesting we divvy our list up (we have slightly fewer than you, but a smaller team).

Thank you!

Some of the profiles have management by US History and also Southern Colonies. Do we have agreement that on profiles that fall into the Southern Colonies time frame, we can remove US History as Profile Manager and add Southern Colonies?

However, only those who are profile managers can add another profile manager unless they are a Project Leader. So we can review profiles and make recommendations, however only a Leader can add or subtract PPP and only a Leader can add Southern Colonies as Profile Manager unless the person doing the reviewing is also a profile manager.

I reviewed the row 4 and row 8 lists. In Row 4 there are 7 Maryland profiles 1500-1699 and 5 Maryland profiles 1700-1799. In Row 8 there are 35 Maryland profiles 1500-1699 and 41 Maryland profiles 1700-1799. Of all these, I am profile manager on only one of the profiles, which of course I'll start on.

But as soon as it's clear that basically what most people can do is only "review and recommend", I'll put a note out to the Province of Maryland team.

If a profile falls within the scope of US Southern Colonies, then yes, we don't need US History *and* USSC.

Review and recommend is fine. Thanks.

Could this team please take a look at this g2g? Looks like a conflation has occurred, the two men need teasing apart and then each protected. https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1083449/two-peter-corbins-may-have-been-conflated

Thanks.

I did a quick look, but it needs to be reviewed to separate the two profiles. From reading the comments of C-H Geschwind, I would agree that there were two different men. I proposed merges for all of the duplicate children. One of the PMs for some of them hasn't been active since 2014, so we may have to wait 30 days to get them merged. C-H Geschwind was willing to work on separating the profiles, so if you are in agreement, you could give them the go ahead...

Then please add me as the Jamestown representative. And Yes Jillaine, we use a Google Spreadsheet on Greeters to track everything.

I have a chart on Jamestown (as do not feel comfortable to posting a Google spreadsheet on the Jamestown Cololnly space page.. I am the one who put the stickers on. I know what you mean, jillaine, as I thought of the switch causing it. "The PPP profiles do need the management.

Looks like you were already on the pre-1700 managed profiles team, Mary! ;-)

Surprise! :-)

The spreadsheet is linked to from the managed profiles teams page.

It's still somewhat developmental because we have been using it both to track transitions (from the past) and will be using it to track things moving forward; happy to walk you and anyone else through it. Saturday mornings (east coast US) are a good time for me for "live" conversations.

FYI, I'm monitoring the requests for project review of profiles; it's an online form that feeds a google spreadsheet. I've gotten caught up on both pre-1700 and 1701-1776 requests.

Is there anyone here who is comfortable with google spreadsheets? We've got another tab on the same spreadsheet of pre-existing PPP profiles related to US SC that need review. I'd love some help.
