US Southern Colonies Project | Profile Improvement Teams | Connectors Team

Team Leader: Sandy (Craig) Patak

Team Members:

The goal of the Connectors Team is to connect to the Wikitree all profiles of people born in the Provinces of Georgia, the Carolinas, Maryland, and the Colony of Virginia prior to 1776.

  • Check the Unconnected Reports to find unconnected profiles page in the Southern Colonies date range: focused on the period 1600- 4th July, 1776
  • Biography is cleaned up, free of any GEDCOM junk, Ancestry trees, etc., and ideally has an actual written biography and quality sources.
  • Add appropriate Categories and Southern Colonies Stickers
  • Check for possible duplicates. A lot of trees can be connected once merges are complete. All duplicates merged into the final lowest profile ID number.

Hello, I just wanted to reach out and introduce myself a little and say thank you for allowing me to join your team. I hope that I will be a benefit to you, but please know that there are times I have a lot of time on my hands and then times where I can go a while without being able to get on here. I am just finishing with raising the last of my four kids, who also happened to be very chronically ill. She has been doing better lately freeing me a little, but then I also took my 96 yr old aunt under my wing as all she has left is two grandchildren that make no effort and then myself and my kids. In addition to all that I am currently trying to start a small business as I have a lot of health issues and am finding it harder and harder to work a normal schedule and need to be very flexible. Anyhow, enough of all that as you can now see I have my hands full. lol I love working on my trees as I have been working all my lines for years and now I am going back and cleaning house and adding more sources, photos, etc. Chapman, Selig, Reed, Derry, Holwager, Morse/Mosser are just some names on my maternal side and Latta, Nunnally, Jessee, Mayfield, Dillion, Morrison are on the paternal side. I am also working on my ex's Thomas and Roberts line for my children.

Just know working on this is very addictive to me and it has become one of my passions. I just love connecting the dots and then adding all I can to bring each profile to life with sources, photos, etc. I wish I had not missed the opportunity to join the Connect-A-thon, but look forward to joing others like it.

Kind regards, Ginny T.

Ginny -

Welcome to the SoCol Connectors Team. Never worry about the quantity of work. We appreciate any help you can provide in Connecting WikiTree's Current Profiles. We are a small Team but mighty. :)

I believe there are two more Connect-A-Thon's this year (next one is in July) and it's a great opportunity to work with others.

I wish you much success in your new business and hope this finds you and yours well.

Please let me know if there are any questions I can help with.

Ashley, welcome to Team Connectors with the US Southern Colonies Project.

Whenever you have "spare time", open up one of the spreadsheets listed on this page, find a Profile that needs connecting and dig in.

If you have not already joined WikiTree's main Connector Project, you can do so here: Answer Connector G2G Question and for more information on the main Connector Project, visit their Project Page.

Lastly, you have joined us at a great time because WikiTree is currently having signups for the 2021 Connect-A-Thon. A lot of our Southern Colonies team members join Team Virginia (includes Kentucky + WV + TN + all surrounding States) or Super Sweepers (includes Southern and Western States) but there are many other teams available. It's a great way to try out a "Thon", Connect your Ancestors Profiles and have some fun with WikiTree.

I am always around if you have any questions.

Hi all! A connector question: when in the process of finding connections, if we come across orphaned profiles, should they be "claimed" for the project? I put myself on as manager to a few, but would just as soon put the project...just not sure how to do that.

Loretta, you (and others) might want to review this link for more information about under what circumstances the project manages or protects a profile:

Please welcome Bill Schultz to the Connectors team. And Connectors, you are currently without a team leader. I encourage you to self organize to the best of your ability and if one of you would like to step into the team leader role, let me (jillaine) know. You can find more about project and team roles here:
