Mine Disaster Circumstances
The first explosion to occur in the Union Pacific Coal Company mines located at Hanna site was on 27 Apr 1890. Only one individual was killed in the accident, Henry Ward, he was 21 years old. Ward was also the first individual to be killed in the Union Pacific Coal Company mines at the Hanna site.
