Claims and Conflicts

WIP

The WikiTree profile of Jeames Lovett (bef.1565-1633) is considerably based on a collection of parish register entries.

As to the immigrant, John Lovett of Salem and Beverly. This association was severed in 2021.

As to daughter Elizabeth. In 1929, Ralph Emerson Twitchell wrote,[1]

"Further evidence [that Joseph Twitchell of Chesham was the immigrant is that] he married before he left England, and ... his wife ... Elizabeth ... had property left her by her father [James Lovet], the declaration in his will being 'if she demands it,' which was the customary declaration in the case of heirs who had immigrated to America."

In 1995, Robert Charles Anderson published an article about Joseph Twitchell as part of The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England 1620-1633.[2] Anderson's profile of Joseph Twitchell varies from that on WikiTree as to origin, age, wife's name and known issue. About Joseph's wife, Anderson writes, "not seen in any New England record"; she is _____ (_____) Twitchell.

As to (uncertain) son, Daniel. See the 2021 profile comment.

Research Notes

Will of James Lovett. G2G 2023. See Seeking English will of James Lovett, buried Chesham, Buckinghamshire, 27 February 1633/4.

  • Helen Ford identified the probable will in the Buckinghamshire archives.
  • Jo Fitz-Henry has identified the FamilySearch Catalog entry for Buckinhamshire wills, see "Archdeaconry of Buckinghamshire, Wills and administrations, 1483-1858; FamilySearch.
  • James' will is probably on "Registered wills v. 29-30, 1613-1617," FSL film 88500 (in British B1 Southeast), digital collection (DGS) 8036428 (resticted film).
