Location: Upper Sturt, South Australia
There was an early school in the Upper Sturt area initially run by Mr C H Gray. The school discontinued in late 1869 due to limited attendance.[1]
After requests from local residents, Upper Sturt School (as it was then known) was re-established in late 1879. The site was established on land sold by Mr Samuel J Wescombe.[2] The first head teacher was Mr Edward W Webb.[3]
In the 1940s, the school comprised a single building with single classroom and adjoining schoolmaster's residence. This was located on the southern side of Upper Sturt Road, opposite the Post Office and not far from the Soldiers' Memorial Hall.[4]
In the late 1960s, the school moved to its present location (as a Primary School) on the northern side of Upper Sturt Road.[5]
