Upper Swan

The fertile lands of the Swan Valley is a region in the upper reaches of the Swan River, and contains both Middle and Upper Swan areas, as named by the early colonists.
Upper Swan is an area of great historical significance. Archaeological excavations in 1979 revealed Aboriginal occupation dating back 40,000 years. In tribute to the famous Aboriginal warrior, Yagan, the Upper Swan Bridge was renamed the Yagan Bridge in 2010. Upper Swan also contains the Ellen Brook Nature Reserve, which is listed on the Register of the National Estate.
