About the Project

The Vaden Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Vaden name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Vaden name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Vadens), by time period (18th Century Vadens), or by topic (Vaden DNA, Vaden Occupations, Vaden Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Visit The Vaden Name Study's Category Page to discover who has been attached to the study.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

The primary information known is related to Henry Vaden (b. 1663). He is considered the Immigrant for most of the Vadens in the Southern United States. Most descendants of this person believe he was from the Isle of Jersey, Channel Islands. It is also believed that his ancestors were French Huguenots.

There is evidence that the Vaden surname derives from de Waldyn and could have Austrian roots. More research needed on this.
