Introduction

This is a Colonial Maryland Land Tract. Don Soper has provided a detailed analysis of the ownership of Vale of Benjamin.[1]

Abstract

The following is abstracted from Don Soper's compilation. [1]

  • 10 June 1670 Benjamin Wells is deeded Vale of Benjamin 1030 acres.
  • 24 March 1696 Mary Yate conveys 192 acres to Samuel Magruder; 4 July she conveys 200 acres to Charles Williams. 29 June 1698 she conveys 100 acres to Thomas James, and then the residue of her estate, including the Vale of Benjamin, to her sons George and John.
  • 28 November 1699. Thomas Stockett, husband of Mary Yate Stockett, coneys 128 acres to John Barnett.
  • 13 August 1701 Mareen Duvall, Sr. onveys to John Barrett, part of the 1000 acre tract valled Vale of Benjamin, then to son Mareen andMareen's wife Frances (Stockett.)
  • 14 July 1716 John Soper trades to John Cash 100 acres of Vale of Benjamin in exchange for 112 acres, Batterson's Vineyard
  • 22 Nov 1722. John Lewis conveys to Elizabeth Watter 113 acres of Batterson's Vineyard laid out by John Soper.
  • 11 April 1724. John Soper wills to Estheer Soper Duvall his dwelling plantatioon, Vale of Benjamin, that was purchased from Charles Duvall and his wife Esther.
