John A. Vanmeter b. 1826, son of Samuel; married Salome (Simkins) Johnson, daughter of Isaac Simkins and widow of Joseph Johnson, in 1853. They were of Deerfield in Cumberland County the following year.^[1], when they sold land conveyed to Salome by her deceased husband Joseph Johnson. Another piece of land was sold by John Van Meter of Deerfield and _____ his wife in 1870.^[2] Another deed from a John Van Meter in Deerfield occurred in 1884.^[3]
