This Van Wassenhove one name study was created 30 May 2018. The name originated in East Flanders and means "From the Wassen Farm". Starting in the middle we have Charles Van Wassenhove who came from Belgium to Monroe County, Michigan in 1844. If you go back to Belgium from there the name is consistently Van Wassenhove. Looking at his descendants in Michigan, however you find many spelling variations such as Van Wasshnova, Van Wassehnova, Van Wasshenova, Van Wassenova, and Van Washenova.
